I would request you NOT to use your card for cash advances until you are desperate, as this will lead to massive problems, I will tell you why:
1) The interest Rate is massive
2)Suppose you have cash advance of $50, and a purchase of $100 towards your card. The statement gets generated, and it indicates that the balance for purchases is $100 and for cash is $50, the Minimum payment due is $20, and the due date is 3rd July 2009. Now , you decide to pay back $100, in order to bring down your balance. You might want to pay $50 towards your purchases, and the rest of $50 towards your cash advances. Alas... I am sorry to say that is not going to happen. Please do remember, that the excess payment is adjusted against your lower APR balance first, and then the money paid over and above that will go for your higher APR. So, till the time you pay back the entire $100 for your purchases, no payment will be considered for you cash advance. Since the cash advance APR is more, you will continue to get charged at a higher interest rate. So to be on the safer side, DO NOT go for cash transactions with your credit card.
